FAQ's > Conditions of Work > 6. PCA Overnight Pay More than 2 hours

6. I am approved for night attendant hours. My PCA has to stay with me overnight but only gets paid for two hours. What’s the deal?

MassHealth only pays for actual activity time that your PCA works completing an approved activity as defined on your PCA evaluation. For work done between midnight and six am, MassHealth adds up the activities your PCA is scheduled for: if they add up to less than two hours, then two hours pay will be the maximum your PCA can get.

It is assumed your PCA is “on call” and will be sleeping nearby you most of the night. If your activity time is greater them 120 minutes, or if you believe that you need more than two hours of assistance during night hours, call us at member services to request an adjustment. We will be glad to serve you.
